PURCHASE, NY - Purchase College junior
Rebecca Colgan enjoyed a truly outstanding year on the soccer field in 2019.
But just how good was it? Well that's the focus of today's #STATurday series.
In 14 games last season, Colgan (Valley Stream, NY) finished with the following numbers:
- 21 goals
- 5 assists
- 47 points
- 5 hat tricks
- 5 game-winning goals
- A spot on the All-Skyline Conference First Team
- And she led all of NCAA Division III women's soccer in goals (1.5) and points (3.36) per game.
Colgan's 21 goals tied for third-most in a season at Purchase College, as the then sophomore equaled Susan Bigler from 2007 and
Albana Krasniqi Munrett from 2005.
Ahead of Colgan on the list in second place is 2019 Hall of Famer
Abigail Katz and her 2010 campaign of 22 goals. And in first place is
Riley Graham, with a program-record 27 goals back in 2015.
As for the single-season leader in points, Colgan collected the outright third-place spot with 47 last year, once again coming in behind Katz in 2010 with 48 points and Graham in 2015 with 57.
While Colgan's numbers fall short of both season marks, she managed to put together the remarkable run in significantly fewer games. Katz and Graham each played a total of 16 games in their respective seasons, while Colgan was limited to just 14 games due to an injury and scheduling.
If Colgan had played in two more games last year, who knows how high she might have climbed. Either way, it was a season for the ages and her success has been etched into the Purchase record books.
